Dua for Guidance – Asking Allah to Show the Straight Path
Published on: July 28, 2025
Introduction
Every Muslim recites this dua at least 17 times a day in Salah — it is the foundation of our spiritual journey. Guidance (Hidayah) is not only about knowing the truth, but being committed to following it with sincerity and steadfastness.
Dua in Arabic
اهْدِنَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Transliteration: Ihdinas-siratal-mustaqim.
Translation: Guide us to the Straight Path.
Context
This dua is from Surah Al-Fatiha, which is known as the greatest chapter in the Quran. It reminds us that no matter how much we know, we are always in need of Allah’s guidance in every matter — faith, decisions, relationships, and more.
Reflections
- The straight path is a path of balance, righteousness, and closeness to Allah.
- This dua humbles us and keeps us spiritually grounded.
- It reminds us not to rely on our intellect alone, but to always ask Allah for direction.
When to Use
Make this a daily dua beyond Salah — especially when making big decisions, facing confusion, or striving to improve your character. Allah never turns away the seeker of guidance.
