Introduction

Whether physical, emotional, or spiritual, pain is a test — but also an opportunity to draw closer to Allah. His names Ash-Shafi (The Healer) and Ar-Rahman (The Merciful) reflect His unmatched ability to cure every wound. This prophetic dua is a beautiful request for divine healing.

Dua in Arabic

اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ النَّاسِ، أَذْهِبِ الْبَأْسَ، اشْفِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ، شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا

Transliteration: Allahumma Rabban-nas, adhhib al-ba’s, ishfi anta ash-Shafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uk, shifa’an la yughadiru saqama.

Translation: O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm and heal. You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing — a healing that leaves no illness behind.

When to Use This Dua

  • During illness — for yourself or others.
  • Before surgery, during treatment, or when anxious about health.
  • During visits to sick loved ones.

Complementary Sunnahs

  • Use Ruqyah (Qur’anic healing) with Surah Al-Fatiha and Ayat-ul-Kursi.
  • Make du’a with Zamzam water and black seed (habbatus sawda).
  • Pray Tahajjud and ask for healing in sujood.

May Allah grant healing to all who are sick and replace every pain with peace. Ameen.
